SUMMARY: The primary function of the Maintenance Manager is to lead the maintenance team and will direct and coordinate activities required for preventive maintenance, continuous optimization and improvement of the production equipment and physical plant.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for minimizing machine down time due to maintenance issues while ensuring safety in an efficient way. This role is also responsible for developing maintenance procedures and ensuring their implementation throughout the facility. They carry out inspections of the facilities and identify any problems which may arise. These problems are then resolved quickly for employees' safety without disrupting business operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. In the early stages of Plant equipment start-ups, a requirement of the job will include hands on (turning a wrench) interaction with the equipment.
  2. Building a Maintenance team by indicating specific staffing needs and evaluating talent that fits the needs and culture of this facility.
  3. Build Electrical/Mechanical and Safety programs from the ground floor up. (Some Safety programs are currently in place.)
  4. Manage & develop maintenance staff effectively, optimize usage of human resources within the department, conduct annual performance reviews and prepare personal growth plans for all employees in the maintenance department
  5. Maintain contractor management program and acts as an onsite project supervisor to contractors, third parties or employees for projects to run according to schedule and within the budget and preparing progress reports
  6. Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary
  7. Ensure operational efficiency of electrical equipment and mechanical systems through timely inspection and repair
  8. Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities
  9. Schedule and maintain the preventative maintenance (PM) program
  10. Oversee and prioritizes plant priorities pertaining to breakdowns, projects & PM’s and allocate to employee
  11. Maintain and improve the 5S program within the department areas
  12. Review Accident/Incident Investigations in compliance with Health Safety & Environment Management System for required incidents
  13. Maintain maintenance logs and report on daily activities
  14. Ensure that designated buildings, plant and facilities are fit for purpose and to provide proactive support/solutions when required
  15. Effectively plan and manage shutdown maintenance
  16. Oversee completion of items as assigned by the management team through the Corrective and Preventive Action process to comply with food safety and regulatory requirements.
  17. Ensure that company premises and facilities are kept in clean and hygienic condition
  18. Implement and ensure workplace safety policies and standards are complied with
  19. Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies.



JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor's Degree a plus, but not a requirement
  2. 5 years supervisory/management experience
  3. 3 years of work experience within food, beverage, or any high speed/highly automated packaging/manufacturing environment, ideally confectionary industry experience.
  4. Demonstrated application of various industrial engineering techniques
  5. Strong lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma experience
  6. Perform tasks with minimal supervision and capable of handling/prioritizing several tasks at once
  7. Extremely detail and deadline oriented
  8. Ability to make business decisions considering strategic company objectives
  9. Effective written and verbal communication skills
  10. Superior interpersonal skills; ability to influence and engage many types of people internally and externally to the company
  11. Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  12. Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment

Office and plant setting. The plant environment will include wet conditions (non-weather related), cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
  1. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
  2. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  3. Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
